It's not easy to get featured on TechCrunch these days. Everyone knows that. Some people, like Daniel Brusilovsky, a former TechCrunch intern who was fired today by Michael Arrington saw opportunity and jumped on it.

This kid negotiated with startups behind the TechCrunch editorial team's back and exchanged articles for new laptop computers. During his latest gig, someone leaked this story to Arrington and Daniel Brusilovsky got his ass fired. Good luck applying to colleges.

On Monday evening I received a phone call from someone I trust who told me that one of our interns had asked for compensation in exchange for a blog post. Specifically, this intern had allegedly asked for a Macbook Air in exchange for a post about a startup.

After an investigation we determined that the allegation was true. In fact, on at least one other occasion this intern was almost certainly given a computer in exchange for a post.

The intern in question has admitted to some of the allegations, and has denied others. We suspended this person while we were sorting through exactly what happened. When it became clear yesterday that there was no question that this person had requested, and in one case taken, compensation for a post, the intern was terminated.

This was not one of our full time writers, and so the frequency of posts was light. Nevertheless, we’ve also deleted all content created by this person on our blogs. We are fairly certain that most of the posts weren’t tainted in any way, but to be sure we’ve removed every word written by this person on the TechCrunch network.

Our attorneys have advised us not to disclose the name of the individual because the person is not a legal adult. We also think that, given the intern’s age, it may not be appropriate to make their identity public.

We are all shaken here at TechCrunch – this is someone who was our friend and who we trusted to be honest with our readers. Our hope is that the intern learns something from this experience and grows into the kind of person that will be more welcome in this community.

I apologize to each one of you. I promise that we will always maintain complete transparency with you on how we operate, even when it isn’t such an easy thing to do.

Pay very close attention to the analyst sitting in the third row back, left of the screen. At first, he looks like any typical guy going about his daily routines. Half way through the video, thinking that no one was watching his screen,  our brillant analyst starts pulling up some interesting photos of women. Little did he know, his computer screen was being broadcasted on live TV.

Despite being owned by Liberty Media, a legitimate company under Time Warner, Lockerz is using some shady techniques to attract users. Here's how the scam works:

1. Users are referred to the site by friends. Once they have their accounts active, users are incentivized to come back daily to gain points, which theoretically can be redeemed for prizes like XBOX 360s and PSPs.

2. However, there is a catch. Points can't be redeemed immediately. People must wait for "redemption" periods which occur for about 5 minutes every month. That's 5 minutes every MONTH.

3. After accumulating points for months, users finally get the opportunity to redeem. What the users don't know is Lockerz has a VERY LIMITED STOCK of goods. After the initial 20 seconds of redemption, the only goods that are left are wallpapers and other useless stuff.

Lockerz is a scam. Its CEO, Kathy Savitt is a con artist.

A 19-year-old Deltona man is arrested for assaulting his own mother, with a taco. Dena Moir tells Fox 35 News her son, Zachary Moir, got out of control Wednesday night when she was calling him down for dinner. When he refused to stop playing his X-box and come down for dinner, Dena Moir says she went upstairs and unplugged the game, that's when she says Zachary pushed her and called her a bad name.  "I've been having trouble with him for awhile won't work, wont' go to school. He's being rude and disrespectful. Pushing things to the limit as far as the violence.”

A few minutes later Dena says she was in the kitchen cleaning and cooking tacos for dinner when Zachary showed up. That's when she says he slapped her arm and threw a taco in her face. “He went ahead and hit me with the taco and I got taco all over my shirt and kitchen. I’ve threatened to call police before. But anyway this time, I thought he went too far so I called police and he's in jail now.”

Dena Moir called cops and said she wants to press charges. Moir says Zachary has tried to call several times, but she's not picking up the phone yet. She says she's going to let him sit in his jail cell in Volusia County for a few days to teach him a lesson.
